Michael Valladares (he/him) is a playwright, performer, and dramaturg.
His work has recently been seen at CultureLab LIC (NYC), The Wild Project (NYC), Theatre in the Open (Newburyport, MA), Herter Park Amphitheatre (Boston, MA), Pentameters Theatre (London, UK), and more.
Michael is the current Company Manager for WP Theater. Previously, he served as a Marketing Coordinator for Concord Theatricals and an Associate Editor for Literary Managers and Dramaturgs of the America’s Review: The Journal of Dramaturgy. He has freelanced as a teacher at Boston Children’s Theatre and as an artist and technician at Double Edge Theatre, performing in I Am the Baron and 6 Feet Apart, All Together. He was a new play dramaturg during the 2021 Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival, and has served as assistant dramaturg for Little Women at Primary Stages and Swan Song at Pentameters Theatre.
In May 2022, his play Mad Little Reefers premiered at NYC/AllOutArts’ FreshFruit Festival under the direction of Khadija Bangoura. In the spring of 2021, he wrote and produced Sometime When Everything Has Changed, a spectacular play for children based on interviews the creative team conducted with Boston-area families about their experiences together during the pandemic.
Valladares holds a BFA in Theatre Arts from Boston University, with a concentration in Physics.
Other credits include Spring Awakening (Outside the Lines), Ovid’s Metamorphoses (Theatre in the Open), Tsunami, a devised movement film, as well as Pride & Pride & Pride &…, My Fair Lady, Kamioroshi: The Descent of the Gods, Sunlight Interior, The Europeans, and Aurora Borealis: A Festival of Light and Dance.
